How Many Times Have Your Advertising Efforts Failed?

burning moneyHow many times have you spent money on an ad somewhere and got absolutely no ROI? lol!

The Faceless Guru Raises his hand! Guru with hands up trans

Hell yeah, I’ll admit more times than one, it happen to me too.

So, what do you do in a situation like this?

Pound your FIST through a WALL? Jump up and down til you turn RED in the FACE?
Go to the GYM to release some STRESS?

Sure… that all sounds good for some relief tension, but that won’t solve your problem. lol.

So, let’s break it down…

You definitely want to make your money back plus a profit, right? If you don’t make a profit then you’re going out of business. That is not what we want to happen. We enjoy our free time working for ourselves and living the good life.

So here’s what needs to happen. I do a lot of Google Advertising, so we will use that platform as an example.

Now before you even take out your card to spend on an AD you need to first do your homework.

Here are a few things to think about:

  • Is this a good market to be advertising in?
  • Is this market hot enough with a low competition where I can still make some money or is it too crowded?
  • How much money should I really spend?
  • Where is the best place to advertise for this particular niche?

Ok, now let’s go over the 4 things I just mentioned above in more detail.

Is the market Good?

First get your booty on Google and do a quick search for something similar to what you want to sell and see what kind of results come up. Are there many sites trying to sell that particular thing?

If you are selling something that needs to be shipped get your booty on Ebay.com and Amazon.com and see what’s going on there. Research your ass off until you know that you got a good product to sell.

Is this market Hot with low competition, but enough to where I can still make some money?

Now for this step you have to have a Google AdWords account set up. If you don’t have one then you sure aren’t doing your marketing right. This is a free tool that doesn’t cost you a thing and the less overhead expenditures you have the more money you make right? OK…

So get your account if you don’t have one yet at https://adwords.google.com

Once you get your account set up on the top tabs bar you will see the “Tools” tab.

Click that and select “Keyword Planner” you will see a few options.

– Search for new keywords using a phrase, website or category
– Get search volume data and trends
– Multiply keyword list to get new keywords

In this case, we want to use the second option “Get search volume data and trends” this way we will know how many searches for those terms are being searched on Google every month. This will tell us if it’s a HOT niche or not.

And you will also be able to see what the bids are for those niche keywords so you will know if you can still make money or if it’s too populated already.

A good foundation to use as for as niche searches go is look for a niche that has at less than 1,000 searches a month and no more than 50,000 searches a month.

I would also advise you to look for searches that are getting no more than 15,000 a month if this is your first time trying to rank for a niche on your website, because generally the less searches a niche gets the less competition they’ll be in Google, so you will have an easier time ranking for that keyword term.

Well, that pretty much covers the basic stuff of doing it the right way from the get-go.
